The latest ideas in car design are embodied in concept cars which give the manufacturers the opportunity of judging the public’s response to them. There’s bound to be something that will appeal to all of us whether the concept is technical innovation or design. For 2011 I present five cool concept cars.

Volkswagen XL1 Concept
First unveiled at the Qatar Motor Show the Volkswagen XL1 Concept puts the emphasis on economy. The car is not heavy on account of its strong yet light carbon fibre body. A 20kw lithium-ion battery pack will take the XL1 twenty miles at which point a 800cc 48hp engine takes over. A further efficient 320 miles can be squeezed out of the small 2.64 gallon fuel tank. It’s a mystery as to how Volkswagen will manage to provide production models of this concept at a reasonable price. Continue Reading

The criminal records are the great source of information to stay safe and secure. The crime rate is continuing rising in most of the country. In such conditions, it is good to be aware of the crimes and criminals. This certainly helps you and your family to live safe. It is very much recommended that people should always do background checks of tenants. It can only be possible if you have access to the database of criminals.

There are many websites that contain huge database of criminal and public records. You can use these databases to ensure that the person living next to your house or your tenant is involved with any crime or not. Using these websites is simple, all you have to do is to enter the name of a person with the year of birth and nationality to check if he or she is accused of any crime or not.

Broadband Expert has recently released figures for October that show consumers who use Pay as You Go mobile choose it over contract mobile broadband. This is the first time that these results have been released.
During the month the results showed that 53% of the mobile broadband customers choose the Pay as You Go deals. This was compared to those who have taken contract deals, which was only 43%. Mobile broadband pay as you go is definitely becoming more popular.

The commercial director for Broadband Expert’s, Rob Webber, has said that he is sure this trend will continue. He stated that there has been evidence that that sales of Pay as You Go has not only risen quite sharply since the end of 2008, but that customers now realize that they do not have to enter a contract. They can simply pay for the exact amount of broadband that they will be using for that month.
This great trend is expected to keep going over the Christmas season. This is the time that contact mobile services see the same performance that is typical to Pay as You Go mobile broadband phones. This is why prepaid mobile broadband makes an excellent holiday gift. Many people are unable to get credit due to being under 18 years of age, and many older people don’t have good enough credit to be on a contract plan.
At T-Mobile a similar trend has been noticed. A spokesperson recently said that in the third quarter of 2009 there was a stabilization of the customers who choose contract mobile broadband. They enjoy the flexible pay-per-day as opposed to more lengthy payments. 20% of the sales are now prepay mobile broadband, and have seen an increase in 10% per month for the last three months.
63% of the mobile broadband sales in September of 2009 were also shown to be similar in research done by GfK Retail & Technology. This shows that more and more customers are choosing pay as you go mobile broadband.

When it comes to having their first baby, many couples probably have no idea what to expect, nor much about how to care for the baby when it arrives. Their level of knowledge will depend on their exposure to other babies, and the part they may have played in their upbringing; plus what they have read and asked about in preparation for the baby’s birth. For most Western couples, that really can mean they do not know what to expect from the arrival of their Bouncing New Baby.

Things are really quite different from my home country, England, here in the Philippines. People generally are crazy about babies here, and a new baby’s older siblings will usually be keen to play a part in baby care. If there is no older sibling, there will by a cousin nearby anxious to carry and look after the offspring. With this tradition, most new parents have a good idea of what baby care is all about, at least from the Filipino viewpoint; and when the baby is born, the parents know there will be a lot of people around to help.
Such enthusiasm to help, and such pre-knowledge and experience, with a new baby is less likely in Western countries, so it is down to the parents to learn all they can before the baby is born, and then as they go along.

Audi Concepts: Audi presents the highlight of the IAA 2009: the e-tron, a high-performance sports car with a purely electric drive system. Four motors – two each at the front and rear axles – drive the wheels, making the concept car a true quattro. Producing 230 kW (313 hp) and 4,500 Nm (3,319.03 lb-ft) of torque, the two-seater accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (0 – 62.14 mph) in 4.8 seconds, and from 60 to 120 km/h (37.28 – 74.56 mph) in 4.1 seconds. The lithium-ion battery provides a truly useable energy content of 42.4 kilowatt hours to enable a range of approximately 248 kilometers.
The performance figures are by no means the only evidence of the consistent and holistic strategy. The design makes it clear that the e-tron belongs in the major leagues of sports cars, and the package takes into account the specific realities of an electric vehicle. The battery is directly behind the passenger cabin for an optimal center of gravity and axle load distribution.

The e-tron is able to freely distribute the powerful torque of its four electric motors to the wheels as required. This so-called torque vectoring allows for dazzling dynamics and an undreamed-of level of agility and precision when cornering.
Audi has taken a new and in some cases revolutionary approach to many of the technical modules. A heat pump is used to efficiently warm up and heat the interior. The drive system, the power electronics and the battery are controlled by an innovative thermal management system that is a crucial component for achieving the car’s range without compromising its high level of interior comfort. Networking the vehicle electronics with the surroundings, which is referred to as car-to-x communication, opens new dimensions for the optimization of efficiency, safety and convenience.
